BEST OF SOUTH GEORGIA

The Valdosta Daily Times is having its annual Best of South Georgia Contest. Serenity Massage Therapy was nominated as Best Massage Therapist. Ofcourse, we are thrilled! Last year we got nominated and were so pleased. Unfortunately, we did not win. So this year, I am asking all my faithful readers to help out. Please go to http://www.valdostadailytimes.com/ and click on the blue ribbon that says Best of South Georgia. If you have never voted before, you will have to register before you can vote. They are trying to keep it fair so that one person can't vote a bunch of times. The voting started yesterday and ends on Feb 4th. Thanks!
PS...We were nominated for Best Day Spa as well. However, since we are not technically a day spa, I am not encouraging anyone to vote for us on that.

DEVIN CAME TO TOWN!

My friend, Devin McGlamery, came through town last night. He sings in the Gospel group, Karen Peck and New River. He and I have been lifelong friends. I ofcourse jumped at the chance to go meet the group for a quick bite before they were off again. They were headed to Nashville for a pre-Grammy party. This is the second year in a row that the group has been nominated for a Grammy! I am so proud of them! Love Ya Devin!

JAN 18th-24th

My cousin Kristy post this video on her facebook. I have seen it before and thought it was a good display of how Satan tries to get to the children of God. No, I don't relate to all the scenarios acted out in the skit, but definitely feel the relevance of it. You see I am trying to grow my walk with Christ. I am trying to rid myself of some of the bad habits I have gained over the years and am trying to become the child He wants me to be. I am in a Bible Study now on the book of Esther by Beth Moore. I couldn't believe in only 1 week how relevant some of the things being taught were to my present situation. (God is good) I am trying to be a prayer warrior. I know what it feels like to give and receive those words of I'll pray for you, but wondering if it ever really gets done. I am so incredibly blessed, way more than I deserve and I need to start acting that way. I realize that Satan doesn't like the fact that I am trying to live a better life for Christ. I have felt attacked in the past week. No, I don't think Woe is me. I do know I am a work in progress. However, I'm here to tell Satan to leave me alone! If you've ever felt attacked or defeated, I am sure you understand where I am coming from. I pray that God will help me get rid of the old, be self sufficient in HIM and continue to grow. PS I still miss my dad. I still cry just about everyday. I just think God is doing an overhaul on me and part of that had to be done by breaking me. I want to continue to live my life to make both my earthly father and my Heavenly Father proud of me. My favorite quote of the Bible Study this week was "You can't amputate your history from your destiny. They both have their root in Jesus." God Bless!

Phil 4: 4-7

Rejoice in the Lord always, I will say it again: Rejoice! Let your gentleness be evident to all. The Lord is near. Do not be anxious for anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with Thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus."

Phil 4:4-7

These are the verses that stare at me every day when I get to work. They have also seemed to "pop up" in some conversations I have been having lately. So this is what I am working on in my life now. I just thought I would share them with you all!

God Bless!

ANOTHER BDAY PARTY FOR KRISTY

Our Bible Study group, who happen to all be friends outside of Bible Study, got together at Loco's last Thursday night to celebrate Kristy's bday. A great time was had by all. We were all smiling big because there were 3 guys sitting at a table near us watching the FL game and they decided to stare at us while we took this pic.

My camera batteries were dying so it wouldn't take pics as fast as usual. I was trying to get pictures of Rozie and Wes dancing, but got their hands instead. However, I thought it was kind of a neat picture.

Blurry, I know but it was the best I could do. I now have 2 sets of extra batteries in my car!

VHS WRESTLING TEAM HONORS DAD

On Friday Jan 2nd, mom and I went to the start of the Valdosta Wrestling Invitational. The coach, Benjy Scarbor, and the Wildcat Wrestling Staff wanted to honor dad for all his years as the announcer for this tournament. The tournament was yet another thing that my dad volunteered to do and I enjoyed him being there with me when I was in high school. They gave us roses and created a trophy in honor of dad which was named the Commander Bill Butler Sportsmanship Award. It was such a sweet presentation. (not the best picture which is why I'm assuming it didn't make it into the newspaper.)
This was the caption that came with the pic on the internet Sat Jan 3rd.
Valdosta High head wrestling coach Benjy Scarbor presents Elizabeth Butler and Heather Butler, left, with red roses Friday afternoon during a pre-game ceremony honoring the late Valdosta Police Department Cmdr. Bill Butler. Butler volunteered his time every year since the early 1990s to announce at the Wildcat Invitational wrestling tournament. His son Chris was a wrestler, while his daughter Heather was a mat girl.
mom, me and Officer Sabrina Smith. Sabrina has been such a blessing to me and my family. She is the school resource officer for VHS and sang the National Anthem for the start of the tournament. She is also a Gator fan so I had to give her a little grief about her outfit, but then I said dad would have liked it!
From the internet on Sun Jan 4th
Perry McKinney of Berrien, who wrestled at 145 pounds, won the Cmdr. Bill Butler Sportsmanship Award, which was voted on by the referees.

MY HEART IS FULL

This weekend, I went to hear a woman speak by the name of Lysa Terkeurst. She is the President of the Proverbs 31 Ministries. My Bible study group did one of her studies called "What Happens When Women Say Yes to God". I think I have blogged about it before. Well, it was as amazing as I thought it would be! I knew that if God could use her to jump out of a page of a book like she did, there was no telling what He would say to me if I heard her in person. She was a blessing. I had a different meeting today so I was unable to attend today's session. However, last night God spoke through her. She is a very down to earth, humble, and eloquent speaker. She talked about her past last night and about how God is using her today because of it! There's so much that I could focus on from her talk last night, but I think I'll hit the point that most hit home. (I'm sure I will post more later!) She talked about wanting her daddy to notice her and love her. With such a heavy heart, she described her great desire for her as a daughter to be loved by her father. I quickly thought of my dad. Today is 9 months since he's been gone. So you can imagine what kind of day I have tried not to have. (Yes, I do try to not wallow in my tears!) I cried last night when Lysa was talking. I cried for her that she ever had to go through that and I cried thanking God that I never did. My daddy was amazing. Yes, he had his flaws, but I know with all that I am that he truly loved me. I am so thankful to have had 26 wonderful years with my dad. I want you all to know that! Lysa told me that she had seen my blog from one of our mutual friends. I told her the title and she said, Oh yes...it's about your journey as you deal with the grief of losing your father. I was a little amazed that this woman who is married with 5 children and speaks all over the country and has written so many books had read my blog. Even more so, a lightbulb went off in my head. This is my journey. Who knows what God is doing in me because of this. One day I hope to have a new blog with an all new title that will be filled with no tears.(Yes, I know it's a dumb thought to say no tears since clearly I still live on earth where there's plenty of pain and sorrow.) I do pray that one day I will have a peace about my dad being gone. It is my faith that keeps me going. It is my faith that will one day cleanse me and make me well! (Lysa told the story of the lepers and all 10 of them being cleansed but only the one who came back to praise Jesus was cleansed and made well.) That is my prayer. One day my faith will be so strong that God will be able to say "Your faith has made you well." Until that day, I am going to continue loving and serving God the best I can. I am going to be a better Christian. That is not a resolution, it is truth. Please pray for me to continue to heal and to be ready for whatever God has for me.
Me and Lysa. (Yes I know I am a bumb in my scrubs, but I wanted to go meet the girls for a quick dinner beforehand and worked right up until time to go.)
Ok, really this is funny. She was sitting autographing books and saw my scrub monogram and said "I have a knot in my neck" I promise I asked her permission before I put my hands on her. Look she's even smiling while I work on her.

These are the ladies that I went to dinner with beforehand. I thought our whole Bible study group was coming, but we had a good time regardless. Rebecca, me, Wendy, and Erin.

QUOTE OF THE DAY

I heard this quote today and thought it was perfect for me!
PEOPLE HAVE TO CRY OUT ALL OF THEIR TEARS TO MAKE ROOM FOR A HEART FULL OF SMILES

HAPPY BIRTHDAY KRISTY!!

Kristy and her sister Brooke. We had Kristy's family birthday party on Saturday. Her sister and brother in law and her mom and dad got to come down from Marietta. It was great!

Brooke was protecting the girls from the dogs. It was the first time they met her and they loved her.

Mary Bennett was riding Bailey like a horse. It was pretty funny.
Kristy and Brooke did a great job trying to get the girls to not be scared of the dogs!
Oh I can't wait for them to turn 3. Maybe they won't stick their fingers in their mouths then!

They were so cute sitting with each other. Lacy said if we could get them to do hear no evil, see no evil, speak no evil...it would be even more cute! I think they are gonna be such good friends like I am with my cousins!
Another photo opp!

Party #1 was at Lake Pappy courtesy of Eric and Emily Tillman. I had so much fun for only being there a little over 2 hours.
